The annual Province 3N & 3S Snooker competition took place on the 2nd March after Bradford Circle’s monthly meeting. Although turn-out was quite a bit lower than in previous years there was good-natured competition and much mutual awarding of foul points by all participants. Bradford (Bros. Chris Anderson and Tim Parr) carried home-ground hopes into the final where they were soundly beaten by worthy returning champions Wakefield…this year represented by Bros. Martin Dearnley and Phil Kitson.
So congratulations to Wakefield Circle who take the trophy away again for another year…and a call to all Circles to diary in 1st March 2021 when we hope to see you all at The Bradford Club for the next Provincial Snooker Competition.
The Brothers of Bradford travelled to the Bridge Hotel, Wetherby, In July to hold a Joint Meeting with the Brothers of Wetherby. They were joined by a number of other Brothers from the Provinces of 3 North and 3 South including the Provincial Director Tony Deighton and Provincial North President Tony Milling.
The highlight of the evening was the enrolment of two new Brothers to the Bradford Circle, Lol Tabori and Paul Corcoran. Lol and Paul have been visiting Bradford Circle for the last few months and were both delighted at their enrolment. It is not often that a new Brother can say he made his first visit on the night he was enrolled.
A delicious meal followed the meeting and the 47 Brothers were joined by their ladies. A young lady from the local parish, Imogen Cordy, entertained on the piano. She impressed her audience, who all thoroughly enjoyed her programme.
When asked during the meal why he joined the Catenians Lol replied, “Being half Hungarian and half Italian, my Faith and Family values” are truly represented in the Catenians.
Back Row: Tony Deighton (Province 3 Director), Gerard McShera (Sponsor), Paul Corcoran, Lol Tabori, Stephen Coherton (Sponsor)

This month Bradford 15 once again hosted the annual provincial snooker competition.
There were two teams each from Huddersfield, Wakefield and Bradford competing for the trophy this year.
Huddersfield A: Brothers Chis L’estrange & John Clutterbrook
Huddersfield B: Brothers Richard Morgan & Dennis Donnelly
Wakefield A: Brothers Martin Dearnley & Andrew Lowrey
Wakefield B: Brothers Mike Starford & David Taylor
Bradford A: Brothers Chris Anderson & Mark Bolland
Bradford B: Brothers Thomas Parr & Tim Parr
Round one as a shortened game with only 6 reds and a 20 minute time limit which saw Bradford A defeat Wakefield A, Huddersfield A defeat Bradford B and Wakefield B defeat Huddersfield B.
The next round was the Semi-finals which added 4 more reds and 10 minutes. Bradford A was up against Huddersfield A and Wakefield B faced Bradford B who advanced from round one as the highest scoring losers. Unfortunately, this round saw both teams coming up against the time limit with several colours still in play but the decision was made to allow all players one more break each. Both games were very close in the end but Bradford A and Wakefield B advanced to the final.
The final was a full game with no time limit. Bradford established a healthy lead by the time the game got down to the colours and Wakefield conceded the game on the Blue.
Congratulations to Brothers Chris and Mark for successfully defending their title as provincial snooker champions.
The Catenians celebrated the end of the year with President Michael Cawley hosting the annual dinner at the Midland Hotel, Bradford.
Entertainment was provided by Jimmy Cricket who made us laugh so much we fell off our chairs. As well as being a comedian, Jimmy is also a Papal Knight so perfectly paced to help the Catenians enjoy an evening of Faith, Family and Friendship.
Pictured below is the room just before our guests arrived. Next year I’ll remember to take pictures of the actual event!
